ON AIR WITH THE DEVIL (progress)
I am so excited for this release. I am so, so excited for this release. I also keep doubting myself something fierce. Last night I almost balled the entire manuscript up and hit a hard reset. I think this week has just been super difficult and frustrating. I try to not throw something away completely out of impulse, but trust me, it’s been really tempting a time or two.
I get really lost in my head when it comes to (“is this really what the readers want?”). It’s not nearly as erotic as some other works (although it is plenty horny, don’t worry) and I get so caught up in worrying that there isn’t enough smut that my brain gets snagged on all sorts of plot hangnails. I worry that my work isn’t horny enough, or escapism enough, or that because it doesn’t have a HEA that it’s less appealing. And I know that I need to pull my head out of my ass and just focus on telling a good story, but Lord, some days it’s more difficult than others.
Don’t get it twisted, though. I really love this story and I really love Josiah’s role as a dead-and-suffering antagonist. There is plenty of play with dreams and parallel dimensions which, you know, is all my favorite shit.
CATCHING UP
Well, on that note…
How is this Mercury Retrograde treating you? I don’t think it goes direct until like, the 29th or something of that nature. And we’ve entered a new moon in Scorpio. Did you do any new moon magic? If so, you should tell me about it (post about it and tag me on Instagram, I love that).
The holidays are going to be wild. Mine already are and we don’t start having people over until Saturday.

You may have already seen the absolutely stunning artwork of Josiah on Instagram, but I did promise an uncensored version. Hymn of the [Hanging] Albatross
Whoops, Gospel of the Cuckoo is getting a sequel. Right now the working title is Hymn of the Albatross / Hymn of the Hanging Albatross, I’m not sure which flows better. I don’t need to decide until I have the cover art, anyway. (Now that I’m thinking about it, I might start a Discord poll to see which one works better. So if you aren’t a part of the Horror Church, be sure to drop in and cast your vote in my author channel).
The sequel follows Dallas about twenty years after Blue’s death. Because if you think I don’t want to write about one of my favorite characters as a haunted middle-aged man, then you’re wrong and know nothing about me. I need Dallas’ reign of terror, I need him being tormented by Blue’s ghost, I need the devil coming to collect their due and I need more gut-wrenching, grieving horror. Not to mention, did he marry again? Does his church love him, or hate him after all this time? You know there is nothing I love more than someone transforming into the very thing they hate.
